Since Tawny lives in Iowa and will not be home before the big baby is born we have decided to invite you to this blog. As a 'virtual' ongoing baby shower you are encouraged to give advice, words of wisdom, and any other tidbits you think might be helpful in the last 2 months of Tawny's pregnancy! We wish her nothing but smooth sailing from now until October 2nd, then let the fun begin :)
Hmm. Butt paste. It smells good and really is very pasty! I tried it, because who can refuse using butt paste??!! I definitely recommend it for some serious diaper rash. On the other hand, It is too much a heavy hitter to use profilactically. It sticks in baby fat rolls and is difficult to wipe away. Upon our ped's recommendation of A&D ointment, that's what we use for flashes of redness. Baby's bottom has be delightfully rash free and squeezable thus far! (p.s. If you decide to try A&D, try different brands. Some smell better than others!)
Thank you Carly!!! Greg got really excited with the registry gun and the name "butt paste" that we really couldn't help ourselves. Thank you for the advice on A&D ointment, we'll be sure to have some on hand for the little one's arrival!
My advice is to enjoy every second, because it really does go by so quickly! Forget about the laundry and dishes and snuggle, play, and coo all day (and sometimes night.)
I can't figure out how to comment to the food, so here you go: Not exactly recipes, but easy, go-to things when life gets turned upside down! (1) make lasagna and freeze it in meal portions. (noodles, your fave sauce, shredded mozzarella and ricotta (or my family secret cottage cheese) and layer). Makes a lot and so easy to microwave! (2) get chicken thighs or drumsticks or breasts (if you can handle raw chicken), lay in baking pan in single layer and sprinkle with season salt. bake at 350 for an hour or so. Freeze in meal portions, again! Carly (3) make homemade choc chip cookies per tollhouse recipe but use dark chocolate morsels instead! (4) nuts and granola --- lifesavers once baby is born
Congratulations on the new arrival, presently the Unknown Brown (and She Who Must be Obeyed). I'm glad it's a girl so that Greg isn't tempted to give her the name Bezaleel from many branches back on the family tree.
Enjoy every moment with her. She will grow so fast.

Carly-
ReplyDeleteThank you for the suggestions. The chicken and cookies are especially great ideas. Both of which I will be doing in the next few weeks!
Thank you,
Tawny
